I have a question about the SPY. I don’t really understand how ETFs work and at first I thought the SPY just tracked the S&P;500 but with up to $50 billion trading per day on the SPY, does this huge amount of money distort the underlying share prices? If I buy an individual stock which happens to be in the S&P;500, to what extent is its price affected by people going long or short on the SPY?
