Great stuff. Thanks for the run down. I’m pretty much in the same frame of mind in that I’m trend agnostic at the moment. While I’m swing trading a few stocks short and long, my bigger picture view is that we’re stuck in a range in most areas. Illiquid summer trading maybe.
Except for 200 shares of sds I’m all cash. Big moves don’t seem to be called for. Bearishness is everywhere yet the vix is behaving fairly well. Hard to see any reason for bullishness. Maybe the news is the key, people are waiting for a clearer picture. In any event, I think you’re right, Quint. We need to be patient until the tape makes a move.
I like gold. The 5 month chart of the dollar may be setting up an interesting bearish head and shoulders. We will have to see if the dollar will start falling now. If so, we will have an incredible fall in the dollar and rise in gold. Gold miners have been kept down too if you compare the HUI to Gold. The fed has reiterated low interest rates for forever and quantitative easing will be the method to solve Fannie and Freddie and the budget deficit.
IYR is heavily weighed by Simon Property Group (GS of real estate stocks) and their
accounting practices are suspect on the level of Enron..all their bad properties are off book…so IYR goes as SPG goes

I enjoy your tapetalk and am learning slowly but surely. I also enjoy listening to your dad on 1510 KFNN. I get a pretty balanced view when I listen to both of you! I will have to admit, although begrudgingly, that I do tend to be more bearish than anything. Thats why I enjoy watching and listening to you. It’s very hard to put personal opinions aside and just watch the tape.
Aaron, thanks for the note. Dad’s tough to ignore, that’s for sure. I don’t know anyone who knows history and understands our present circumstances like he does. Luckily I just focus on the charts, playing pictures and numbers or I’d be in the bunker with spam and peanut butter.
That’s funny! I’m just a little slow on checking back here and am finally going to watch yesterday’s tape talk. Between your dad and my brother, I ought to be deep, deep underground with plans to re-emerge, oh, about 2020 or so! Kidding aside, it does seem that times are a bit precarious.
